The new container crane at the Multi-Cargo Sea Terminal in Barcadera, reached its highest point with an impressive 70 meters! The crane was fully upright recently in presence of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Communications, Energy and Environment, Mr. Mike de Meza.
The new Multi-Cargo Sea Terminal in Barcadera is in the final phase of construction. The Gantry Crane is expected to be fully functional in December. Minister de Meza is satisfied with the construction progress and announced that the relocation of the port will occur early 2016.
The new container crane is energy efficient and has a refined control program. Specialists and technicians are being trained to work with the new Gantry Crane. In addition to the fixed port crane, there will also be a mobile crane, which was purchased two years ago. It will be transported from the Oranjestad harbor to Barcadera.
