Aruba Ports Authority (APA) and Curacao Ports Authority (CPA) recently signed an MOU. Both companies are going to work together in different areas to support the economic development of Aruba and Curacao.
Economic growth for the communities and business is the main reason for signing the MOU. Information exchange between both ports authorities and regional targets are also included in the agreement. Aruba and Curacao are willing to include more regional ports in the agreement.
To realize these targets both companies are going to work together in different projects, partnering with different organizations, information exchange and marketing activities.
The MOU is signed for a one year period. After evaluation the companies will decide how they will continue the cooperation in the future.
Aruba is also working on a new container port to Barcadera. Moving the cargo port to Barcadera, will benefit the islands position as a Gateway. The new Free Zone is located adjacent to the new cargo port in Barcadera.
