FAQs

1. How long will it take to have my company established and operating in the Free Zone?

Your company can be admitted to the Free Zone as soon as we have received the necessary information and approved the intended business operations. From our experience, the client determines the speed of the process by submitting the
complete and correct information as soon as possible. Excluding the time needed by the notary and possibly consulting with other Government Departments depending on the type of business, clients have been able to provide us with the necessary information in a few days.

2. Are there costs involved to establish my company in the Free Zone?

Our services during the process of starting up your company are free of charge. There will be costs involved when incorporating the company (notary fee). Once your company is admitted to the Free Zone other costs and fees related to business operations are involved. Please contact us for more information.

3. If I have an existing local company, can I obtain the Free Zone status?

Yes, by changing the articles of incorporation, and going through the admissions process. If goods are involved which need to be under Customs control, special location requirements may need to be met. Please contact us for more information.

4. Can I authorize a local representative to take care of the admission procedure for my company?

You can authorize a local representative to start up a company in the Free Zone. The local representative of the free zone company should be a person with a permanent residence in Aruba. We will request verification and scope of the authorization.

5. Do I need to contact other departments or authorities to get my company established?

Our client friendly admission procedure is part of the one-stop shop approach developed for companies wishing to do business in the Free Zone. To start up your free zone company you do not need to contact other departments or authorities. The notary is the only other party involved in setting up your company. Depending on the type of business, we may request advice from other authorities.

6. What is considered “export”?

In general, export is when the purchasing party is a non-resident and/or company not registered on Aruba.

7. Is my free zone company allowed to sell to the local market?

Except for services, sales to the local market are permitted, but special rules and regulations apply. Please contact us for more information.

8. Are there specific operating requirements?

Companies admitted to the Free Zone have to meet certain operating requirements, such as administrative procedures and environmental standards. The requirements can vary per type of business. Please contact us for more information.

9. What is the standard size of the warehouses?

The standard size of our existing warehouses is approximately 3,230 square feet (300 square meters). The floor to ceiling height is 17 feet (5.5 meters) measured from the lowest point and 19 feet (7.5 meters) measured from the highest point. A 40 foot container can be parked in a warehouse.

10. Can any alterations be done on the warehouses?

Alterations can be done to the warehouse, with our approval. Warehouses must be returned to their original state at the end of the lease agreement.

11. What is the duration of a lease agreement?

The standard lease agreement has a term of one year, which can be automatically extended. Warehouses can also be leased for shorter periods of time. Please contact us for more information.

What is the power voltage used in the warehouse?

The power voltage is 110 V for office equipment and 220 V for air conditioners. Higher voltage is possible, if necessary. Please contact the local electricity company ELMAR NV for more information.
