FZA was proud to participate in the Kingdom Trade Mission to Panama and Miami, with Aruba’s Prime Minister Mike Eman as Head of Delegation. Approximately 33 companies were part of the mission in Panama, representing all 4 countries within the Kingdom (Netherlands, Curacao, St. Maarten and Aruba). The companies were all marine-oriented in one way or another and participated with a large booth at the Panama Maritime XII World Conference and Exhibition. Furthermore, there were presentations and matchmaking meetings organized by the Kingdom Embassy in Panama. Also, a site visit to the Panama Canal and the Colon Free Zone was part of the program. Compliments to Ambassador Wiebe de Boer and his team for the superb organization! Excellent opportunities for new business ventures were explored and all participants agreed that the added value of having a Kingdom delegation were immense.
Part of the delegation traveled on to Miami for meetings centered around Miami’s position as ‘Gateway to the America’s’ and opportunities offered by island states to support, assist in and profit from this endeavor. There were meetings with the Port of Miami, the Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Miami International Airport. An impressive site visit to Interport, a global logistics company, was also part of the program. The support and hospitality from the Kingdom Consulate, with General Consul Nathalie Olijslager at the helm, were immensely appreciated, and the Caribbean members of the Kingdom of the Netherlands look forward to playing a significant ‘hubs and spokes’ role in developing our economic potential as a Gateway.
