The University of Aruba and STC-Group (Scheepvaart en Transport College) Rotterdam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MUO) to start a training course for Manager Port Operations. This gives international students the ability to start their educational training on Aruba before they continue in Rotterdam. A delegation of the STC-Group, the director the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) of the Netherlands will visit Aruba to discuss their further plans.
STC-Group has more than 7000 (international) students. Sharing knowledge to international students is an important part of their strategy. Students from Colombia, Indonesia and Chile recently started with the pilot project in Aruba.
Starting on Aruba is a first step of their future plans. Both parties hope to offer more educational programs.
This agreement fits in Aruba’s concept to develop Aruba’s third economic pillar and develop the Gateway. Aruba is an interesting location for students in the maritime sector. The expanding of the new port in Barcadera and the development of Aruba’s Gateway are important factors to start the program on Aruba.
