This week, Southwest Airlines announced new connections to Aruba. Starting July 1st, 2014 Southwest will fly to its new destinations in the Caribbean including Aruba, The Bahamas and Jamaica.
Southwest will depart from its terminals in Atlanta, Baltimore and Orlando.
Southwest Airlines currently offers flights to the Caribbean through AirTran, which it took over in 2011. By the end of 2014 all AirTran flights will be converted to Southwest Airlines.
Commencing July 1st, Southwest airlines will have nonstop flights between Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Orlando and Aruba.
The United States is Aruba’s main tourism market. Adding new routes to Aruba will also benefit Aruba’s position as a Gateway. US pre-clearance at Aruba’s international airport makes it attractive for South American travelers to go to the United States via Aruba.
