First solar panels installed at solar park airport

Last week, the first solar panels were installed in the solar park at Aruba’s airport. Different local and international companies are working together to construct Aruba’s first solar park. .
A total of 14.000 solar panels will cover the entire parking lot at the airport and produce 3,5 megawatts, providing green energy for 500 households.
The park is under supervision of the local electricity company Elmar. The solar park will be finished in the coming months.
Building a solar park is part of Aruba’s 2020 vision to become 100% independent from fossil fuels. The solar park is an ideal showcase for other countries in the region. Many islands are considering the transformation to renewable energy sources. Aruba can be a leading example for the region.
The solar park is an important step for the development of the Gateway. Building a showcase is a great example of generating export activities in the field of green energy.
